Well, we made it, and we're still in one piece. Our luggage too even. Not without a few mishaps along the way, but pretty minor ones considering the hefty trek.
For instance, FOOD.....is messy!!! Sarina's a good eater, but we left a Hansel & Gretel trail every where we went - planes, airports, taxi - they'll all know we were there after taking survey of their floors and seat crevices ;) Ooops. And wouldn't you know our first flight, right out of Madison, I whip out the peas and squash we brought along from home and no sooner had she started eating and had orange all around her face that I realized there wasn't a package of wet wipes in sight. Small puddle jumper planes, no room for much of a carry-on and certainly not much under your feet. So where were the wipes? A package in each bag that wasn't accessible, and none in the bag at my feet. Arghhh. And Ritz Bitz sandwich crackers? Yeah...they may look harmless but I'm still finding the orange cheese stains as I sit here at the house. I saw them at the store and thought, oh a nice small handy snack....pfftttt! Only if you picked them up and put them in your mouth without sticking your little thumb in between and separating each one, then with the cheesy side pressed into your palm as you try to work it to your face amid the turbulence. I need not even go into the spinach frittata with blueberry muffin we were served for breakfast on the international flight before landing...you can picture the airplane seat after that yourself.
Hope all is well back in the States, but for now this weary American is in the wrong time zone, wrong hemisphere, walking on the wrong side of the sidewalk (excuse me, I meant footpath), and just needs a nice long nap.
